Firstly, a big thank you for agreeing to referee at Touch My Brum. This is the sixth year that we’ve run it, and the main aim is to have a fun and light hearted summer event.
Please register at http://www.birminghambullsrfc.com/tmbwp/registration/ – this is free, and it’s so we can make sure you have a packed lunch reserved and to take note of any dietary requirements.
The venue is Sutton RFC, Walmley Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. B76 2QA.
The tournament runs from 10.00am to 5.00pm. The morning consist of three groups of round robin matches, leading to three tiers of play in the afternoon.
The tournament rules are at http://www.birminghambullsrfc.com/tmbwp/tournament-info/rules/ if there is something that you don’t agree with on the rules that impacts safety, then please let me know and I will issue an immediate update. If it is something that would be useful, then please let me know afterwards so we can incorporate the rules afterwards.
There will be one male changing room, one female changing room, and one junior changing room reserved for referees.
Support on the day
Each pitch will have a nominated Pitch Host who will have a radio mic and be in contact with the organisers and first aid. If you have anything that you require (even if it is a bottle of water) then please do ask them.
Also remember to pick up your goodie bag which will contain some useful supplies for your day.
Respect for Referees
We expect all players to demonstrate due respect to a referee. If there are any problems in this (which there shouldn’t be) then please do take any required action on the pitch, and if off the pitch then please do speak to a pitch host or other volunteer.
After The Tournament
You are welcome (but not obligated) to head to Eden in Birmingham to join us for a night out. The wristband gives you 10% off. Your status as a referee will confer no protection in any Kangaroo Courts which may be convened following a night out.
